You love to work in a complex and challenging environment? You are interested in aviation?

Brussels Airport is such an exciting and motivating workplace and an inspiring learning place to deepen your knowledge for of the aviation market.

The airport in Brussels is an ambitious airport with many ideas for future development, growth and many challenges to cope with.
As an ORTEC-er, we love to work in this kind of environment.  The more complex and challenging, the more we feel at home!
We look forward to continue our support and help any airport to become even more efficient in the challenges of this fast-moving market.
We are involved in several processes related to passengers, baggage, cargo and aircraft.

We do not only deal with the airport authorities, but also with airlines, handlers and air traffic management. This gives us a good overview of the parties and systems involved, the needs and the challenges. Besides having an ORTEC aviation team, called the OP Team (Operations and Planning Team) at Brussels airport, we are starting to share knowledge and experience within ORTEC and the aviation community as well.

All airports struggle with the same issues and working together and sharing cases and solutions is a great way to help each other.

Kris Cools

Graduated as business engineer I am always searching for new challenges in a changing environment. This is why I chose to work for ORTEC but also why I was one of the first OC employees to be part of the Brussels Airport team. My fascination for aviation started during my studies when I wrote my master thesis about improvement of business models for low cost companies.

Working at Brussels Airport is not only very interesting and challenging but it also gives me a sort of continuous boost to have a certain responsibility of my actions and decisions as they are directly visible in operations. The projects I work on are various, but all of them are somehow linked as the full airport operations are all connected. It is a fast changing environment and the more you know about the overall operations, the better you can analyze parts of it.

What I like the most is the involvement in all parts of a project: analyzing data using smart ORTEC products, visualizing different scenarios, proposing an optimized situation and implementing the optimal solution. That is how I get in contact with many different departments and people at the airport, but also at ORTEC. I love to work in team with ORTEC colleagues who have different expertise’s and experiences in order to deliver the best solution for our customer.

Working as an ORTEC consultant for a client as Brussels Airport gives me a lot of opportunities to explore, tackle and solve all kind of aviation puzzles together with the team. And I always look forward to the next one!

I’ve been working as a consultant for ORTEC since June 2017, mainly for our client Brussels Airport Company. As a VUB business engineer graduate with a passion for travel, IT and logistics, my current job is where my education, interests and passions come perfectly together. When I’m not helping others to get to their destination, I’m usually planning a trip for myself. After completing my degree at the VUB, I travelled around North America and Asia, then settled down in Paris, where I gained useful work experience at an Open Data company. It was in Paris that I became acquainted with ORTEC and I quickly realized that ORTEC’s norms and values suited me well.

Working for Brussels Airport is a fantastic experience. Not everyone has the privilege of working behind the scenes of a major airport. It is a way to push yourself to the limits. Every day – and every night – is different and each presents new challenges. That was one of the reasons why I decided to take on a new challenge starting on April 1. I’ll be joining the OP team, which ORTEC will be staffing 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. We’ll be working on a variety of operational activities, such as check-in allocation, inbound allocation, screening & border control, etc. We are an enthusiastic team, with talented and motivated colleagues who challenge one another and take the initiative to think outside the box. But in addition to all of this hard work, there is also time for fun activities, like team buildings, sport activities, afterwork parties, and so much more!
